My career with Kennecott began in 1990 at the Power Plant as utility personnel. My career advancements have been supported and encouraged by all of my supervisors who saw in me an enthusiasm and drive to continue improving myself. Through the tuition assistance program Kennecott offers, I am actively working towards a B.S. degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
Briefly stated, Kennecott sustains the growth and development of their employees who seek a long-standing career within Kennecott.

I began my employment at KUC in 1999 when I was hired as an operator at the Utah Power Plant. During my five years there I worked in many different capacities. Upon completion of my degree from the University of Utah, I was recruited into the Finance Department as a Financial Analyst. I currently work in Business Evaluation as an Analyst and work to support investment opportunity evaluation for those same operations.
Kennecott has given me the great opportunity to develop myself professionally, academically and personally. I have worked with some dedicated and passionate people and feel that their enthusiasm is the core of our organizational culture and create a bright future for our business.

I grew up knowing Kennecott. My father spent 42 years as an employee of Kennecott.
I was hired on at the Refinery in February of 1992, I spent 18 months there as a tank house man on the cathode press crew.
While driving, I took advantage of tuition assistance and began going to school over the next 5 years to get my degree in business management. Once I graduated, I approached management about wanting to do different things with my time and career here at Kennecott. Four months later I was promoted to Operations Supervisor.
I spent my first 18 months as a truck supervisor, being mentored and trained. I was then offered a Team Leader position, which I performed for four years until May of 2007, when I moved to my current position at the Training Department — a position I thoroughly enjoy.
I have been witness over the past 16 years, to a company that has made Safety a value, and a culture where safety is everyone’s concern from the company’s president down to the newest operator.
We have been in a time that the market has been good for the industry and the employees have been rewarded financially for safe productive performance and it has been a once in a lifetime opportunity and experience to be a part of this culture and company.
When asked where I work I find it personally rewarding to be able to proudly tell folks that I spend my work day at Kennecott, where we promote a safe, caring workplace, and have a work force that is proud of where they work.
