Kennecott foundation

Kennecott Utah Copper’s Bingham Canyon Mine Visitors Center Charitable Foundation is a nonprofit that aims to help Utah residents. This includes supporting charities that assist children, veterans, senior citizens, and those struggling with homelessness, disabilities or low income.

The Foundation raises money for local charities through tax-deductible entrance fees to the Visitors Center. The Copperton Lions Club contributes additional funds to the Foundation from items sold at the Visitors Center gift shop.

Since 1992, the Foundation has donated millions of dollars to local community charities and has hosted more than 3 million visitors.

The Foundation is made up of nine trustees from the greater Salt Lake Area and select Kennecott employees. These board members come from the southwestern part of the Salt Lake Valley, Magna and Copperton, and areas of expertise like education and humanities.

To request a donation from the Foundation, complete the Kennecott Utah Copper Charitable Foundation Proposal Grant Application by Oct. 15. Once applications are received, Foundation Trustees will meet to determine eligibility and funding amounts.
