Rio Tinto Kennecott welcomes Marc Cameron as new managing director

South Jordan, Utah (Jan. 12, 2017) – Marc Cameron has been named the new managing director of Rio Tinto Kennecott. As Kennecott’s senior leader, he will oversee all aspects of the business, including its operations, growth initiatives, sustainable development and community outreach. Marc replaces Colin Nexhip, who has served as the acting managing director since September 2016.

Marc has been with Rio Tinto for more than 14 years. He joined the company’s Canada-based Diavik Diamond Mine in early 2003 and has held operational leadership roles in construction, mining, processing and recovery, and most recently, as president and CEO.

“Marc brings tremendous experience, technical expertise and a focus on people that will continue the great tradition at Kennecott,” said Nigel Steward, managing director, operations, Rio Tinto Copper and Diamonds. “I’m confident that his leadership and expertise will drive our business into the future.”

Marc is a professional engineer and holds a master’s degree in global management.
