A: Our hours of operation are 8 am to 8 pm with the entry gate closing at 7 pm.

A: Yes. We are open seven days a week including holidays.
Q: Does the Visitors Center close for the weather?
A: If we are experiencing inclement weather that will make your visit unsafe or not allow you a view of the mine such as snowfall, fog, high winds, or heavy rain, we will update our website to show the Visitors Center is closed. This information is dated to demonstrate its accuracy.
Q: Do I need to make a reservation?
A: No reservation is required no matter how large the group.
Q: Do I need to make a reservation if I’m bringing a large group from a school or another organization on a bus?
A: No reservation is required no matter how large the group.
Q: Is there a fee to visit?
A: Entrance fees:

- 100% of fees are donated to local charities (admission fees are tax deductible).
- There is no admission charge for school buses, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops in uniform, and vans from county operated non-profit senior citizen centers.
- Charter schools and smaller schools not travelling in a bus are required to have a letter from the school, on the school’s letterhead, and bring a completed school bus form.
Q: We are a school do we need to do anything special?
A: Please complete the school bus form and present it to the security officer upon your arrival. We allow one vehicle with chaperones per bus.

A: Please complete the school bus form and present it to the security officer upon your arrival. Charter schools and smaller schools not travelling in a bus are required to have a letter from the school on school letterhead and bring a completed school bus form.
Q: Can I ride my motorcycle to the Visitors Center?
A: No. Motorcycles are not permitted due to safety concerns.
Q: Are pets allowed?
A: We do not allow pets at the Visitors Center.
Q: Can I bring a picnic?
A: The Visitors Center is not a picnic area. We recommend you drive to Copperton Park or surroundings city parks. Directions can be provided by the security officer on your departure.
Q: Do you have Cub Scout or Girl Scout patches?
A: Yes. Please click on the “Plan Your Trip” page where you will find the form you can download.
